The world is full of hate
Will it ever
Ever
Dissipate?
It festers, boils, multiplies
Spreading over
All sweet innocence
Kindness
Is
Denied
My heart cries
Weeps for the world
So full of anger
Steeped
In
Hate.
Please take it
Make it be
Not
Of this world
Not for us, for you, nor me.

Trying to see my way thru
My destiny
Where will I go?
Where will I be?
Can I make it through?
Will you be there with me?
Questions – No answers
So I guess
I’ll just have to begin
Living and see.

Sadness streams down my face
Dreams
Remembered of another place
Trying to correct wrongs done
In that other time, that other place
No help
Can be strong enough
No help to carry me away
From that sad, sad place
Today.

Coffee is the one
I love
The one I need
Nearby me
In the morning
He wakes, lets me see
The beauty in the world
It’s majesty.
Then at night he’s there
Beside of me
Breathing quietly, snoring
Oh so gently.
No bad dreams
Disrupt my sleep
For
He’s at guard, he protects me.
My sweet coffee
Is
The one I love
The one I need
And I will
For all of eternity.

I have been working on the art for my 2024 Art & Affirmation Calendar.
Coffee is the 4th in the series of paintings.
I knew Coffee and his folks and it has been very personal for me working on this painting.
Coffee passed away last year and is solely missed by all his family.
The above poem was written for them.

Tender mercies sweet and gentle
Lead me down
The path of quietness
Overhearing no call of dread
Just
The thumping of my beating heart
Beating love
Instead.

Laughed with my friends
Celebrating life
Happiness and loving care

To you all even if it’s not

The world is round
What is done comes back
Comes back around
So don’t make it bad
Don’t make anyone sad
Cause back
It comes back around.
Make it happy
Carefree, filled with joy
Then when it comes back
Comes back around
Your soul will know
Truly
