I Heard Your Heart Beat

March 21, 2019

Shepherd and Bouvier playing ~ Illustration by Patrice

I heard your heart beat
I saw your breath breathe
My fingers touched your lips
My hands caressed your feet.

As my soul touched yours
I knew, knew there was
No where else in this world
I need be or rather go.

Spring Will Come

March 20, 2019

Crocus in spring ~ Photo by Patrice

Spring will come and be spectacular
Leaving behind winter cold and white
No more fighting for
Warmth in long days of brilliant sunlight
Can’t wait for you to arrive
To be basking in
Your freshness, beauty and majesty
All things alive.

Tied In A Knot

March 19, 2019

Long, lingering ties ~ Photo by Patrice

Stomach tied in a knot
Don’t know what is, what’s not
Blessed be the ones
That know their path, their way
No one need show.

Me, is it me alone
Doesn’t know the way
Can’t see the trail
Lost in woods dark and travail
Calling out is of no avail.

Breath in, breath out
Calmly think, think it out
The way is there
The signs will show
Just stop, look, see
Then for sure, you’ll know.

I’ve Gone The Distance

March 18, 2019

Scratchboard Horses ~ Illustration by Patrice

I’ve gone the distance
I’ve paid the price
The fruits of my labour
may not be suffice
I’ve toiled, anguished
Over minor things
Leaping over hurdles
I’ve just about brought
My heart to the brink
Then
Because I love you
I believe
It’s worth everything.

I thought of that
And now don’t know why.

I thought of this
And now I feel a need to cry.

I thought of things
And still didn’t feel a thing.

I thought so
And now I know I didn’t know
Anything.

Been The One

March 14, 2019

Wayne's Home ~ Photo by Patrice

Haven’t I always been the one
To wonder what happened
That let you in.

Your nasty temper
Your contemptuous lips
Causing heartache
Making life something a long ways
From pure bliss.

I should have closed the door
Slammed it in your face
Laughed at the anger
Coursing thru your body
Contorting every muscle
In your nasty face.

I should have
I should have been the one.

Heard

March 13, 2019

Red Tulip ~ Photo by Patrice

You heard me speak
You heard me say
Words that you took away
Making us forever friends
Even til today.

I heard you speak
I heard you say
These words I write
I write today.

Keeping, Feeling

Starting Points in Math ~ Illustration by Patrice for publisher, Ginn & Company

Keeping everything in store
Keeping all things close to me
Feeling insecure
Feeling
Feeling a little needy.

Hearing Words

March 11, 2019

Pen Ink Drawing of an Owl ~ Illustration by Patrice for B.C. Central Credit Union

Hearing words in my head
They tell of times past
Then
Sometimes things ahead

‘Listen
Listen well’

Is what they said

‘For in telling, we give you
A chance to know
Know how to deal with
What has happened
And what is still ahead’.

House of cards
Comes crashing down
Never built on solid ground
No ace, jack nor king
Only a queen in mourning.
