Let me understand
the way the world turns
never
on demand
My heart may say
words that mean something
just today
tomorrow things will change
tomorrow
is
another day
Then
on that tomorrow
will I understand
how the world came to be
how it turns
and
where upon it
I do stand?

Oh the world
is a miserable place
no joy
no saving grace
only heartache, sadness
anything else
I can’t endure
embrace
Then
a robin alights
on my garden gate
living in happiness
in delight
courting, laughing
as robins do
building a nest
making love
in the mists of evening’s dew
All will be
all is
as the creator planned
we’ll live
till
the sun sets on our lives
whether with
happiness
or
crying eyes.

Working forward
Working is a process
To pass thru life
Feeling accomplished
Feeling
I’m doing my best
Will there be rewards?
Will there be stress?
I’m sure lots of both
Lots to look back on
Knowing I did all I could
Knowing
I did my best.

does not dwell
on all
that could be wrong
I’m open to the world, the sky
I can see beauty
magic
in the smallest thing
I understand
how the world works
and
with your help
the universe
is mine
To dwell in
mine to embrace
give me what I need
I want
not just a little
but
everything.

Don’t let him
be
the master of your destiny
leading you to chaos, killing
despicable misery
Don’t let him
be
the one who takes
you down
a path of loneliness, hatred
anarchy
Don’t let him
take away your livelihood
your dreams
destroy your country
your forests, rivers
diluting, polluting
everything
Please
don’t let him
let him do these things.

am I there
am I
everywhere?
I don’t see how
I am to be
here
there, everywhere
Then
I smell
the fruits of destiny
Then
I hear sounds
pounding
the Earth
deep, deep underground
I know, know then
I’m here
I’m there, I’m everywhere.

Awful things do happen
bodies
cry and bleed
This is why
I need you
need you close
forever
close
holding, protecting me.

in the wilderness
of
low self esteem
Climbing out
has been hard
rocks, crevasses
unholy shards
pierce my skin, my life
my thoughts
Still I climb
I push, pull and shove
to
a glorious world
full of
grace, courage
and
self-love.
