the frozen snow
We don’t know
How
the sun shines for centuries
not reduced to
just a glow
We don’t know
we don’t know much of anything
yet
we think we do

While seeking in heartache
something
so good, so divine

not forget

that’ll guide me

It came in silence
it came
in broad daylight
dripping
dropping
then
and
throughout the night
Clutching branches
trees
houses
everything in sight
Silently freezing
covering them
in
a grasp
so tight
In horror
we heard a branch
limb
tree
crack
break
falling on lines
Sending silence
to
homes
yesterday
today
tomorrow
and
tonight
Gone
but
leaving
in it’s wake
destruction
devastation
throughout the country
No more silence
only
chainsaws
generators
roaring
every hour
all day
into
dark, dark night
Freezing rain
has
gripped us
all
so tight.

All in order

what I hear

the robin calls.

was said
in jest or a little angry
things could be worked out
We were happy
Now it seems
the world stands still

disbelief
The sun shines elsewhere
hiding
