The lush green of summer
Is contentment in lazy, hot days
Brief showers of warm shimmering
Summer rain.
Squirrels scurry away
Hummingbirds drink all day
Sun shinning bright in a clear blue
Summer sky.
All is right
As I lie
My eyes watching summer drift by.

Clouds boil black across the sky
hiding goodness, laughter
beneath an unforgiving land
the sun can’t shine nor rivers flow
there is no time for kindness to be bestowed.
Maybe tomorrow
or
the day after that
brightness and laughter
will replace all this awful crap.

A robin lays a thousand eggs
only some come to fruition
Optimistic, she builds again
this time, she’s sure
she’ll see a thousand grow
Fulfilling her ambition.

We have to acknowledge

No one lives a life full of anger, strife
nor
do they live in unprecedented peace
a nondescript life.
Somewhere between, somewhere
we live
our own beautiful
personal life.

The tic tock of the clock
goes on and on
holding me captive
with its sound.
The night is dark
the stars hidden away
still the clock ticks
ticks all thru the night
into day.
The pendulum swings
sounding on each hour
each day
signalling time passing
life drifting away.
With each tic
tic tock
my heart beats
beats to the rhythm
of that ticking clock.

I’ve heard the sound of the earth
Rocking too and fro
Even thou she doesn’t make a sound
I know the earth is there
I know her heart spins
Round and round
But still
She quietly stands
Stands still for me
I am
On solid ground.

Take all good things that come your way

Believing in a better day.

I didn’t say words needed
Not yesterday.
All was lonely, all was not right
You heard me call but turned away.
Words stung, they torn away
A facade built up way before today.
You heard me call and laughed away
The sights envisioned for tomorrow
Created just today.
I have stopped, I call no more
For words must be by someone else
It’s not my work, not anymore.

A world full of happiness
Wonder
There I find.
No sorrow, sobs
Cries of destitute
Nor does anger find a place
To prey.
For in this world of magnitude
My heart’s taken away
My soul alive
Oh, how beauty thrives.
