If I Could Speak And Say To My Younger Self

May 19, 2016

My Younger Self

If I could speak and say
To my younger self
The things I know today
I wouldn’t listen to myself
Berate and think I’m not worthy
Of love in anyway.

I’d say beauty doesn’t last
It fades away to something beautiful
Just in another way
What’s important now won’t be
In tomorrow’s day, so let it go
Let it fade away.

I’d tell her she’ll grow old
Live and laugh no matter what
Tragedy may come her way
That all she has to do is just love
Love and live each and everyday.

That’s what I would tell my younger self
If I could speak to her in
Yesterday.

Somewhere Along The Way

May 17, 2016

Heron in the creek ~ Photo by Patrice

Somewhere along the way
My heart bled and sadness, sorrow
Washed away.

Somewhere along the way
I don’t know where or will I stay
Near or far, far away.

Somewhere along the way
My heart bled and washed
All thoughts of you away.

Somewhere
Somewhere along the way.

My Heart Softly Waits

May 16, 2016

Siegrun and her beloved dogs ~ Painting by Patrice

My heart softly waits
To make the connection
To the world of love
Not hate.

My heart
She softly waits.

Robin In The Nest That Be

May 13, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Robin in the nest that be
Built an impressive place
For turquoise eggs to be
In their little comfy nest
Do rest
Patience be

Keep an eye on all
That may be around
To harm
This little nest that be

Tucked away
Hidden in leaves
Where no one sees
This little nest
A robin’s nest
That be.

I only write what I see

Smoky Hearts Filled The Room

May 11, 2016

*  This the third in my series of Janis Joplin inspired works.

Smoky hearts filled the room
Lights were dim shadows seemed to loom
Fear was present, it cast its spell
No one moved they couldn’t tell
Right from wrong nor which was hell
Quietly left, I snuck away
Hoping to live even one more day.

When The Magic Feather Floats Down

May 10, 2016

*  This the second in my series of Janis Joplin inspired works.

When the magic feather floats down
When I can’t see anyone else around
When purple haze looms so near
When fountains float above the atmosphere
And even goats don’t smoke
Is when some folks will say
Tomorrows gone, now called yesterday.

I Was The Girl

May 9, 2016

* Each day this week, I’m going to be posting writings that came to me in the middle of the night after watching a documentary on Janis Joplin. Whether it is Janis writing these words thru me, or my perception of what I watched, I have no idea. Yours to decide and I hope, enjoy.

I was the girl who stood in the back
I was the one who didn’t say any of that
I was the one who laughed and cried
I was the one who breathed the breath
Who stood alone amongst the rest
Never knowing my heart
I think, I guess.

Don’t Know Where I Am

May 6, 2016

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

Don’t know where I am
Nor where I’m going to be
Can’t see down the road
Or far off cross the sea.

For I am.
I am what I see
Nothing ever changes
Here, within side of me.

Don’t know where I’m going
Never knew where I’ve been
But here now in the present
Is a charming human being.
