All I Can Know

All I can know
You have given me.

Nothing is left
Out of my destiny.

No heart pumps
Without a soul,

No mind smiles
Unless they know.

January 1, 2021

Beginning a new year
A new day
Leaving all that’s bad
In yesterday.

Bringing with me
Only love and joy
Created there
In my yesterday.

I Don’t Know

December 18, 2020

Palm Tress in the Sunset ~Photo by Patrice

I don’t know
Nor will I be
Entrenched in anything
Filled with misery
I won’t call
Weep or wail
Sad words
They won’t prevail.

Marching on
Marching forward
Taking positive
Shielding my soul
From all
Nothing more
Than
A coward.

See that light
Feel it fill the sky
Warm my heart
Pour radiance
Throughout the world
Bring glad tears
Healing
To my eyes.

When I Think All Is Lost

December 11, 2020

In loving memory of Wanda, Siegrun and all those that we have lost in this year ❤️❤️❤️

Patrice's avatarPatrice’s Art & Poetry Blog

When I think all is lost
You come and hold me.

You give me strength
When I feel so weak
You give me hope
A chance to speak
The words that heal me.

My heart’s not broken
It mends, it sees me
Go ahead with life
With you beside me.

The Best Person ~ Photo by Patrice

I know you haven’t been
The best person
ever being
But
I must say
You’re the best
I’ve ever seen.

We All Sit Here

November 27, 2020

Finches at Feeder ~ Photo by Patrice

We all sit here
Giving not a thought of summer’s hot
Seeds drop here and there
We flutter about with what seems
Not a care
Blissful in winter’s coat
We peck and munch
No time to crack a silly joke.

Santa’s’ coming soon
We hear
But to him we don’t give a care
For we see him
Flying in
Bringing packages
None which
Are for me, you, I or him,

We just sit here
Eating seeds
Life’s good it appears
It seems.

My Thoughts Race

October 23, 2020

Running First ~ Photo by Patrice

My thoughts race
I pace the floor
Could it be
Could I possibly
Have more?

My heart is open
It feels good fortune’s
Gentle rays
Come flooding in.

My head spins
My ears roar
My thoughts race
As my jaw drops
Beneath my chin
To the floor.

Tenderly

October 9, 2020

My Mom ~ Photo by Patrice

Tenderly, I think of you
For the world was right
When I could hold you
With no forsaken thoughts
On my mind
As we laughed and talked
And oh so tender
Were those thoughts.

Tenderly, I think of you
You were my world
You gave me life
You showed me how
To navigate throughout
Any cursed strife
To hold on, to believe
For you gave me love
Tenderly.

I Saw A Hummingbird Today

September 25, 2020

Lily a hummingbird ~ Photo by Patrice

I saw a hummingbird today
Still here, hasn’t flown away
Cold nights must take a bite
Still here
Couldn’t believe my eyes
My ears.

A hummingbird flew
To the feeder so low
Thought of emptying
Sure all hummingbirds gone
Then there she was hovering
Sitting, sipping sweet nectar
In the cold rainy air.

Still here, hasn’t started
On her long flight
Sleeping thru, keeping warm
In the cold fall nights
Drinking sweet water
Filling up to embark
On a long, arduous flight.

Maybe today will be the day
She’ll fly away
Still
I saw a hummingbird
A hummingbird flew to the feeder
Today.

Tic Tok Goes The Clock

September 15, 2020

Tic Tock Goes The Clock ~ Photo by Patrice

Tic tock goes the clock
Ticking time away
No hesitate
No wait, wait!

Time goes on
Thru night and day
The same time
The only time
Ticking time away.
