I Have Heard

May 22, 2026

I have heard
and
know
I have to be
the sweetest person
I ever can be.

Why?
you ask

Why
this has to be?

Cause the Creator
says
this is best for the world
and
of course
little
old me.

I Didn’t Choose You

May 21, 2026
I Didn't Choose You ~ Pastel Art by Patrice

You chose me
I didn’t choose you

We are
so different
we wouldn’t
agree
on anything
I’m sure
too

Why have you come?

What will you do?

Not that I care
cause
you see
I didn’t choose you.

Yesterday

May 20, 2026
Last used May 20/26

A sentimental journey
I have taken
today
down the old path
into history’s
yesterday

Reliving things
from the past
some I wish
I didn’t remember
of
that time
yesterday

Then I hear
the call
the call I heard
too
on that day
yesterday

Telling me
I’m on a journey
I need to relive
not only
yesterday

But
today
to know where
I’ve come from
where
I travelled

To bring me
here
all the way
from
yesterday.

Sitting Still

May 19, 2026
Sitting Still ~ Watercolour Pet Portrait Art by Patrice

Sitting still
I hear
your voice

My heart
skips
a beat
my mind rejoices

You are near
you
are here

Nothing else matters

I love you
so
much

Oh
my sweet dear.

Near To Me

May 15, 2026
Near To Me ~ Photo by Jennifer Clark

I know once again
You are near to me
I feel your touch
Your breath breathing
Quietly

My heart pounds
My finger seek
To caress
The very essence of you
That be

To keep
Keep you forever
Here
Near to me

I Hear You Call

May 14, 2026
I Hear You Call ~ Photo by Patrice

I hear you call
I see you
fly
you don’t know
I exist
and
truthfully, neither do I

We fly through our life
we laugh, we cry
but
are we really here
are
we alive?

Holding On, Holding Still

May 12, 2026

Two years ago yesterday, my friend, Patsy passed away.
She had a lifelong disability that made walking stilted and slow. But that didn’t stop her! Oh no, she walked miles for years. Even walked to town for her groceries. Sometimes someone drove her home but if they didn’t, she walked back with her groceries!!! And it’s a 20 minute drive on a good day on a dirt road with steep, STEEP hills.
As she got into her 70’s, it became more difficult for her to go far. There came a time when she could only make it to our driveway, rest and go back home.
I put this chair out for her to rest. Sometimes she’d come on in and visit before heading home.
The chair goes out each year at this time. Just in case she’s on a little walk and needs a break.
Miss you Patsy – you were a special person

Holding On, Holding Still ~ Photo by Patrice

Holding on, holding still
waiting for the world
to explain itself
when
we ask
the question

Why?

But
that question
answered
is nothing that’ll
stop
the world turning
no it won’t

But still. . .

I Don’t Know

May 11, 2026
I Don't Know ~ Photo by Patrice

I don’t know
I haven’t seen
anything of consequence
nothing that
hasn’t been.

You too
have you seen
anything important
anything
that’s been?

Maybe together
maybe as one
we’ll be able to understand
understand
all that has been
all that
has been done.

My Heart’s Memories

May 8, 2026

I went back after several years, to the place where I grew up.
The place where I had many happy times and wonderful memories.

I was overwhelmed to see what time has done.

My Heart’s Memories ~ Photo by Patrice

My Heart does break
My soul knows
The past has gone
It exists
No more.

Times remembered
Times
From long ago past
Have faded in my memory
But
I thought
They’d last and last.

The land has covered
Over
The lane we used to walk
Trees died
Their stark bodies bent
Cracking in the wind
While bushes have overgrown
Where happiness
Should’ve been.

Surrounded
By empty, barren fields
Flourishing weeds covering in
What used to be
Fertile land growing crops
That
Nurtured creatures
Way back then.

Only memories
Now
Only fading memories
Of what was but not now
Or
Ever again.

You Spoke

May 7, 2026
You Spoke - Photo by Patrice

You spoke
but
you didn’t say
words of wisdom
nor
great things

No, not today

Makes me wonder
do you know
what it’s all about?

Or

Just wording words
you’ve heard
but
never cared
thought about?
