I Live

July 27, 2021
I Live ~ Photo by Patrice

You don’t know how I live
You don’t know
what makes me tick
all is hidden deep
beneath the facade
I keep.

Private, personal that’s where
I live
hoping fervently
you don’t peek beneath
my closed lid.

Which slams shut
whenever
I think someone’s too close
to see my flaws
secrets I keep, hide
I live.

Seeking Much

April 19, 2021

Seeking much
Getting none
My mistake
Going round
Going forward

Backward

Sometimes means
I’ll accomplish what I seek
Repeating what I’ve done
Perfecting what I’ve been

Deep breath in
Air billowing out
I live
I am everything
I’m about.

World’s Face

I fell off the world’s face
Down into the depths
Of disgrace
No hope, no saving grace
Mired deep
In a unholy place.

Then out of that depth
A saviour came
Putting his arms around
Making me claim my place
In blessed, holy time.

I live
Making no mistakes
Doing no crime
I see the world’s true face
It is such a wondrous place
And is now mine.

Know What I’m Doing

June 17, 2020

Know what I’m doing
Know what I did
Now going to where
I love, I live

All is well
And making life
All
That I need, that I give.

When Everything Is Obscure

November 14, 2016

Soulful Tree at Eugina Falls ~ Photo by Patrice

When everything is obscure
Upside down
In the loo
How can I think
Pleasant thoughts
Laugh or cry with hilarity?

Nope
Not happening

Crushed, lonely
I trudge ahead
Feeling chains
Of impending dread
A smile cannot cross
My doomed face
All joy is gone
It’s been erased.

Why I live
Why I die
An answer comes
Slowly
As I cry.
