Morning Comes

June 15, 2020

Morning Still ~ Photo by Patrice

Morning comes
Then it goes
No one knows where
Where it unfolds.

Melting into day
Hiding thru the night
Breaking once again
In the glorious morning light

Can’t Help But See

Can’t help but see
The world living, unfolding
As it should be.

Can’t help but feel
The soft and gentle caring
Beneath my feet.

Can’t help but hear
A song of love
Filling each of my ears.

Can’t help but live
A life full of harmony
Can’t help but see all this, around me.

Not Sure The Reason Why

June 11, 2020

Calgary Storm ~ Photo by Patrice

Not sure the reason why
The sky cries
Weeps and wails
Crashing thunder
Before my very eyes

Anger, sadness
Blessed love
Not sure
Not sure which is
The reason why.

Angry, Hurt Are The Feelings

June 10, 2020

Dead Turtle in Costa Rica ~ Photo by Patrice

Angry, hurt are the feelings
Racing thru my head
Why would people be that way
Can’t accept such treatment
In my heart, my head

Seething, feeling angry
But I’ll try to forgive and say
Goodbye to such
That make life an unholy place
No one wants today.

My Heart Is Heavy, My Soul Cold

June 8, 2020

Squirrel Contemplating ~ Photo by Patrice

My heart is heavy, my soul cold

Wherever I wander
I know
The sky will be there
The earth a treasure trove
Of experiences

I will live, I will know

Together
They will pull me out
Out of this deep hole

My heart will lighten
My soul no longer be
A deathly cold.

Remember When

June 5, 2020

Safe and Strong ~ Illustration by Patrice for Ginn and Company's math book, 'Starting Points in Mathematics'

Remember when
Life was soft
And
Then the world burst
Spewing anger.

That is when
I fell from my heart
Landing in a den of angry giants
Eating,
Crunching hapless wrens
Cried in anger, feared for death.

 That is when
I saw the world
Issue out some justice
My tears were dried, my heart soothed
And
I remembered when.

Holding On And Very Still

June 4, 2020

St. Lucian Mighty Tree ~ Photo by Patrice

Holding on and very still
breathe light
heart softly beating
and
I will be careful
to
leave the earth
a better place
because
of
me

I promise, I will.

Hope you’re right
Hope not left in the heart of distress.

Maybe tomorrow
I can be laughing in the midst of endless.

Seldom do you see
Different species fight
Like you, like me
Seldom
Seldom do you see.
