Keep Them Secret

June 24, 2019

Mr. T. ~ Photo by Patrice

I mustn’t tell
The things I know
Keep them secret
No one else
Should ever know.

Let them be
Secrets known only
To me
Don’t let the world see
These secrets
I keep inside of me.

Strive For Happiness

June 21, 2019

Strive for happiness
Creating love
Narrow the corridor
That harbours anger
Let it sink deep into murky mud.

Never saw it coming
Never heard the cry
Maybe in the beginning
I didn’t understand
The reason why.

Now that is over and it seems
The clouds have begun to dry
I’ll take my happiness
And make love
The reason why.

Sadness Is A Part Of Me

June 20, 2019

Sadness is a part of me
Loss of one so very dear
To me
Gone a long time ago
But no one told me
I didn’t know.

Her heart was pure
Her soul glowed bright
I can see her smile
Her gentle nature
Such a delight.

In the years
That have passed
We talked little
Distance, time
Seemed to be an
Impasse.

But you were there
I was here
Sharing a love so full
For horses, boxers
And a mate who
Completed, giving all.

Now must accept
Gone to be in heaven
Where with all who
Have gone before
Happily sharing laughter
Memories by the score.

I Want To Run The Hills Once Again

June 19, 2019

Looking Back Down ~ Photo by Patrice

I want to run the hills once again

Feel the warm breath of the sun on my face
The cool breeze on my skin.

I want to run the hills, the hills
Once again.

Conspiracy

June 18, 2019

Deer at the deck ~ Photo by Patrice

Conspiracy comes and flows
Taking breath
Out of control
No one knows who to trust
Where safe lives
Or
Whether the world
As we know it
Will turn to dust.

Conspiracy shows
She has no mercy
Reigning ruthlessly
Laughing at despair
Smirking
At courtesy.

Conspiracy destroys
Undermines
The beauty of innocence
And
Tenderness becomes
An unimaginable crime.

I cannot comprehend all the love and joy
You bring to me
And in the end I hope you see
I have given as much love to you
As you have given me.

My Face

June 14, 2019

Each morning now I greet a face
A stranger, I don’t remember
Back in time or space
An older woman surprises me in the mirror
Each morning, when
I wash her face.

When did she get here?
When did she arrive?
When did she replace that young girl?
Who greeted me in the mirror
As I
Washed her face.

Glad she’s here
Glad she survived and got thru
All the world put on her plate
When I think about it
I’m glad she took that young girl’s place
The one who used to
Wash my face.

Dark And Dismal

June 13, 2019

Costa Rican fishing boat ~ Photo by Patrice

Dark and dismal is not the way
Open up, laugh and sing
Chase the gloomy clouds away
Bask in the sun filtering thru
Release your heart
See the beauty coming
Through.

You Don’t Know, I Don’t Care

June 12, 2019

Perplexed Deer ~ Photo by Patrice

You don’t know
I don’t care
Everything else
We must share

No one told me
This is the living I’ll do
Expressing kindness
Harmony and gratitude

You won’t come
Take my place
All the goodness done
Can be easily erased

So bless yourself
Pick your teeth
The world will turn
Regardlessly.

Found The Reason

June 11, 2019

Poppies Red ~ Photo by Patrice

I haven’t found the reason
Why I cry
I cry
Nothing seems to stop it
Hold it back
My world is lovely
Yet I always come back
To that.

Maybe in the past
Somewhere
In a life I lived
A life that didn’t last
I’ll find the reason
The reason will be answered
At last
Oh Lord at last.
